Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp.

Recycling. Everyone should do it. It’s that simple and it makes a world of difference. The year this campaign ran Rhode Island Solid Waste Management Corporation became Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. A 1,200-acre facility. They were on a mission to instill change in the public perception of recycling.

Until this time, very little waste was separated into the 2 bins. Our agency was tasked with inspiring the public to recycle certain containers by putting them in the green bin. We decided to show how physically simple it was to do by spotlighting dumb things we all actually do every day and are still capable of enacting great change with a simple task.

The result of our efforts that year was a 9% lift in recycled items. In this case, any positive result is a huge win. The sad fact remains that 62,500 tons of plastic end up in this landfill every year. By 2034 it will be at capacity and will close. We all need to do more.
